Michael Ted Garner, devoted husband, loving father, and loyal brother, returned home peacefully to his Heavenly Father on the morning of October 21, 2009. He was 56. Michael was born and raised in Rexburg, Idaho. He was the oldest of eleven children born to Ted and Edna Garner. Michael graduated from Madison High School and LDS Seminary Program in 1971. He served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the California East Mission from 1972 to 1974. Michael married the love of his life, Jean Ann Glaze, on August 24, 1974. He graduated from Ricks College in 1985. Michael was the father of five boys. He enjoyed coaching city league basketball and church basketball for each of his sons. Michael was proud of all his sons and loved each of them very much. For nearly twenty-five years, Michael played basketball every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning at the North Stake Center, earning him the nickname “Patriarch”. He also enjoyed attending every Madison High School basketball game for the past 20 years. Michael was a committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in various callings in the Church. Michael is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Garner, four sons, Heath Garner (Carrie Garner) of Provo, Utah, Joshua Garner (Marcy Garner) of Rexburg, Jeremy Garner of Rexburg, and Ian Garner of Rexburg, four grandchildren Micah Garner, Abby Garner, Ethan Garner, and Hudson Garner, father, Ted Garner of Rexburg, and ten brothers and sisters Matthew Garner (Susan Garner) of Sugar City, Mark Garner (Iris Garner) of Rexburg, Kim Geddes (Spencer Geddes) of Cove, Utah, James Garner of Rexburg, Jodi Flores (Andres Flores) of American Fork, Utah, John Garner (Hope Garner) of Cedar Hills, Utah, Rebecca Weaver (Brad Weaver) of Rexburg, Rachel Lovejoy (James Lovejoy) of Idaho Falls, Ruth Summers (Jeff Summers) of Eagle Mountain, Utah, and Thomas Garner (Cammi Garner) of Cedar Hills, Utah. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Garner, and his son, Jared Garner. Funeral Services will be held at the LDS East Stake Center in Rexburg, Idaho on Monday, October 26th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m with Bishop David Reeser officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service. The family will have a viewing at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, Idaho on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Rexburg Cemetery.
