Obituary

Agnes Marie Johnson was born September 4th, 1962 to Cameron and Mary Ervin. Agnes was the oldest of 6 children, growing up in Los Angeles, CA. Agnes grew up to be a caring, helpful, hard working young person who was dedicated to her family, friends, and hobbies.
Living in Salinas, CA in her young adult years, she earned her AA degree as well as met her husband, Gregory Johnson. They were married November 5th, 1983. They had their first child, their daughter Kaleasha in 1984, their son, Stephen in 1985, and their youngest, daughter Kristine in 1988. Agnes and her new family moved to Sacramento, CA in 1989. Agnes was a very dedicated mother to her children. Staying home to raise her children fulltime, Agnes started an in-home daycare. Until her passing, she stayed connected with some of those kids after all those years. When her 3 kids were all in school, Agnes went to work as a high school cafeteria worker. Agnes was known as every student's favorite pizza lady. She gave the best slices and even snuck some chocolate chip cookies to her favorites. She was promoted to lead cafeteria worker at a local elementary school. There she was known for decorating the cafeteria for all the wonderful kids for every holiday, season, and school theme. Kids were often amazed by her decorating skills and fun environment.
Working school hours was her goal in order tobe home when the kids got home. Agnes was active in all of her kids' sports programs: team mom, football and cheer boards, and even a therapist to her kids when they needed someone to talk to.
Once all 3 kids were older and more independent, Agnes fulfilled her career dreams of becoming a 911 Call Dispatcher for Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Agnes worked full timeanswering 911 calls and being a dedicated first responder to the local citizens. Agnes won Dispatcher of the Year as well as a Life Saving Medal from Sacramento County for her incredible work. Never giving up her incredible mom role, she voluntarily made sure every birthday at her job was celebrated, every holiday an opportunity to gather and build morale, and often helped her coworkers with various projects.
Agnes loved family vacations, particularly cruises. She, with her family, traveled both coasts of Mexico, various Caribbean islands, and Alaska. There were also annual trips to Disneyland as Agnes and her family were big Disney fans. She also participated in various community events and volunteer opportunities. Her FAVORITE ministry, however, was being Mrs. Claus for the local kids in her neighborhood. Every Christmas season, she would orchestrate with local fire department and police department for a holiday parade in various neighborhoods. Agnes and her husband would dress up as Santa and Mrs. Claus for the kids of Rancho Cordova, CA and had volunteers pass out candy to all those kids (all paid for by Agnes and her family).
Agnes was a wonder woman for her family. She survived the sudden passing of her son in 2011. Three weeks after his passing, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. But this devastation did not stop the fighter within her; she crushed cancer and became a survivor. She had various medical scares that she fought and won countless times. She modeled amazing optimism and fighting stubbornness in the best way possible. Because of her fighting strength, she was able to enjoy time with her most favorite people: her two grandsons, Christian and Maximus. She loved her grandbabies and her grandbabies LOVED her. Friends of Agnes often asked her to be their kids' Mema because she was so amazing and loved them so fully.
Agnes and her husband retired and moved to Rexburg, ID in 2021. In May 2022, Agnes was diagnosed with brain cancer. She was given 12-18 months. Knowing Agnes was to know she would go beyond medical expectations. Doctors called her a medical marvel; Agnes called it fighting so she can see her oldest daughter get married. She fought until the very end; modeling strength and perseverance to her family and loved ones around her. She passed away surrounded by her immediate family in peace and love.
