Alan Blair Withers of Mud Lake, Idaho passed away Tuesday, August 27th at the age of 57 from complications due to cancer.
He was born July 3, 1956 in Rexburg, Idaho to Blair and Vesta Withers. Alan grew up in Rexburg on his family's dairy farm, which he fully took over after his father retired. He attended grade school in Hibbard and Burton, and graduated from Madison High School where he was involved in FFA and received his State and American FFA degrees. He attended Eastern Idaho Technical College where he earned a degree in farm and diesel mechanics.
Alan was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full time mission in Calgary Alberta Canada. Even though he was busy with the dairy farm he knew he was never too busy to accept the church callings that he served in.
On February 4, 1983 he married Elaine Shaw in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They moved to Mud Lake where the dairy's farm ground is located, and there raised their four children.
Alan enjoyed dairy farming and was good at repairing and fixing machinery. He loved to have his family working by his side, and taught them the value of hard work and responsibility. Even though dairy farming is hard work, he knew how to have fun and loved to laugh.
Some of his hobbies were doing things with his children and grandchildren, exploring ghost towns, collecting toy farm equipment with his son, reading history books and farming and dairy magazines.
Alan is survived by his mother, Vesta Withers of Rexburg, Idaho, his wife, Elaine Withers of Terreton, Idaho; children, Dustan (Candace) Withers of Rexburg, Idaho, Amber Withers of Pocatello, Idaho, Kendra, and Jenny Withers of Terreton, Idaho; grandchildren, Bailee, Reagan, and Addyson Withers. He is also survived by his brothers Carl (Jane) Withers of International Falls, Minnesota, Neil (Michelle) Withers of Richland, Washington, and a sister, Laree (Sid) Campbell of Layton, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Blair Withers and a sister, Alene Squire.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 30th at the Terreton LDS Stake Center. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
