Obituary

Aldean Smith, 85, of Rexburg, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg of natural causes. She was born March 10, 1926 in Lyman, Idaho to Isaac Earl and Emma Arnold Smith. She was the seventh of seven children. She attended Cedar Point Grade School in Lyman and graduated from Madison High School. She attended business college after high school.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities.

She lived and worked in California for a few years and then came home to help care for her father, and then in later years caring for her mother. After returning to Rexburg, she worked for many years for Archibald Insurance Agency.

She was known for her talent as a seamstress, making clothes for her nieces and family.

After dealing with diabetes for several years, and age taking its course, she moved to the Homestead Assisted Living in December 2008. Appreciation goes to Homestead and Hands of Hope Hospice for her care.

She is survived by a sister Thala Ann Martin of California and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Cora Squires; brothers, Vern Smith, Donald Smith, Ren Smith and Leo Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. both times at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
