Obituary

Alden Robertson Partridge, age 86, passed away peacefully at the Homestead surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

Alden was born March 27, 1936, in Lovell Wyoming and raised on a small farm in Cowley, Wyoming. Alden was the youngest of five brothers and two sisters. He loved growing up on the farm where he learned to love the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman all his life. He also loved the BSA organization and, later in life, earned a Silver Beaver for his service.

He graduated from the Cowley, Wyoming High School. He attended the University of Wyoming where he earned his BA in Geology and a BS. Then at the University of Iowa he received his Master's in Mathematics. He also attended the University of Oregon.

Alden married Jennie Call, the love of his life, on June 12, 1957, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together, with his wife, he loved the Lord and served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in many positions. He served as the first bishop of the Rexburg 9th Ward for seven years. He served, two full-time missions and one part-time mission with his wife. First to the Ontario Canada East Mission, second a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City, Utah, and finally a part-time mission at the BYU-Idaho Family History Center overseeing the Spanish extraction program. He also served as a temple worker in both the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples for nine and a half years.

In his professional life he first taught high school in Powell, Wyoming, then in Leadville, Colorado, and finally Roosevelt, Utah. After teaching high school, he came to Ricks College where he taught for 35 years as a Math Professor.

First and foremost, Alden was a family man. A father of 12 children, 43 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Alden is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jennie Call Partridge; 10 children: Dennis Partridge (Paula Ritchey) of Inwood, West Virginia; Linda Mayes (Richard) of Lovell, Wyoming; Tannis Spaulding (Joe) of Rexburg, Idaho; Annette Partridge (Tom Gagetta) of Bigfork, Montana; Karren Nelson (Richard) of Rigby Idaho; Darin Partridge (Keturah) of Logan, Utah; Don Partridge of New York, New York; Janell Tufts (Bill) of Chehalis, Washington; Marianne Schwartz (John) of Saratoga Springs, Utah; Toni Gibbs (Albert) of Boise, Idaho; and one sister, Karma Allred of Cowley, Wyoming.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister, four brothers, one son, one daughter, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, at the Rigby 12th Ward Chapel, 602 Sundance, with Bishop Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, in Rexburg, and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
