Alene Barker, 88, formerly of Idaho Falls, died September 10, 2024, at Temple View Rehabilitation Center in Rexburg from causes incident to age.

She was born July 24, 1936, in Rexburg to William Henry and Louise Meng Flamm.  She attended schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School and Ricks College.

She went to work as an administrative assistant and the INL and worked there until her retirement.

She married Donald Barker and one son, Bryan was born to this union.  Donald died on July 3, 2001.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities.  She enjoyed music and played the piano and organ.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and sewing.

She is survived by her son, Bryan Barker;  step-children, Donna Barker, Bud Barker, Jim (Dixie) Barker; sisters, Marge (Bob) Westerberg and Betty (John) Gilchrist; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg.  The family will receive friends and family Monday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services.  Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
