Alene Hathaway Olson Harrison, 81, of St. Anthony, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her son's arms on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Born of the late Alvin Robert Hathaway and Julia Villette Brower on July 24, 1928, she was the second of eight children. At 19, Alene married Kenneth Olson and began their life as a military family. They had one child together: Dean. She became a pilot and was the secretary of the SAC (Strategic Air Command). Alene also began studying ceramics and became rather sought after for the detailing she put into her work, particularly her porcelain dolls. She married her second husband in the 1980's, residing in Lake Tapps, Washington. Her son, Dean, also in the military, was reassigned to Northern California and she returned to the area originally settled by her grandfather, where her siblings still resided. Alene was an avid gardener, fisherman, and became an active member of the LDS Ward in St. Anthony. As her health began to decline, she moved in with Dean and his loving family in Johns Creek, GA. Alene is survived by her son, Dean, his wife Mary, her two grandchildren Elise and Eric, with whom she proudly shared a birth date; her brother, Donlee, his wife Gaye; her sisters-in-law Marilyn Hathaway and Joyce Hathaway; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Nyda Ann Stewart; Alvin Gayle Hathaway; Arlo Dale Hathaway; Laurel W. Hathaway; Carma Lee Jones; and Joanna Westmorland.
