Alex Marshall Christensen, 27, formerly of Rexburg, Idaho, returned to his Father in Heaven on April 5, 2015, in Gilbert, Arizona.
Alex was born May 17, 1987 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Paul D. and Lahni Marshall Christensen. He attended Madison High School graduating in 2005.
While attending high school, Alex's love for creating music and performing was ignited. He picked up a guitar and it was attached to him for the next several years. He started a band that gained notoriety in our small town. He never turned down an opportunity to write music or perform. His musical experiences also led him to perform with the BYU-Idaho Bluegrass Band, Teton Mountain Shadow Boys and at the Mountain River Ranch.
Alex had the honor of serving an LDS Mission to Anchorage, Alaska, Hmong speaking. He had an amazing ear for music and languages. He was not formally trained in the Missionary Training Center to learn the Hmong language, so he taught himself and communicated like a native speaker.
Upon his return, Alex attended BYU-Idaho learning more about literature and language. He was thought of very highly and taught several sections of Freshman English after completing his undergrad. He also had such a passion for the written word. He couldn't read fast enough and his tastes were so varied. He truly appreciated any form of artistry.
While attending BYU-Idaho, Alex met his sweetheart, Orchid Marvasty and they were sealed for time and eternity in the Rexburg, Idaho LDS Temple on June 20, 2009. They were blessed with two of the most beautiful spirits, Layla and Leo.
After Alex graduated with his bachelor degree at BYU-Idaho, he was accepted into Arizona State University Masters Program for Linguistics and Literature. He had aspirations of becoming a University Professor to pass along his love and knowledge of his favorite subjects.
Alex is survived by his spouse, Orchid and his children Layla and Leo of Gilbert, Arizona, his parents, Paul and Lahni Christensen of Rexburg, his siblings; Misti Christensen of Salt Lake City, Utah, Julie (Brett) Pack of Moses Lake, Washington, Mike (Megan) Christensen of Rigby, Idaho; grandparents, Iris Marshall of Cardston, Alberta, Canada, and Billy D. and Sharon Christensen of Rexburg, Idaho.
He will be missed by his nephews Jordan and Kade Pack and Drake Christensen, his brother-in-law, Idean Marvasty and his in-laws Ben Marvasty and Shala Shasembaglou.
He is preceded in death by his grandpa, Charles Henry Marshall and his two nieces, Fayth Kamryn and Zoe Lynn Pack.
