Alta May Fisher Christensen, 100, of Rexburg, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Homestead Assisted Living of Rexburg of causes incident to age.
She was born December 1, 1911, at Oxford, Idaho to Victor R. and Jennie Cecil Tucker Fisher.
She grew up in Oxford where she attended elementary school. She graduated from Downey High School and attended both Idaho State University in Pocatello and the University of Idaho in Moscow.
In her early years she was active in 4-H livestock work and was named Idaho Livestock Champion of the year.
She came to Rexburg in 1937 and was employed by Utah Power & Light as Home Service Director. She retired from Valley Bank, having worked there for 20 years.
She married George H. Christensen in 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society Presidency and Stake MIA. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Jenny Leigh Camp.
She enjoyed gardening. She was a charter member of the Rexburg Ladies Golf Association and served in many of it's offices.
She is survived by her son Paul R. Christensen of Farmington, Utah; ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sisters Bess Eads and Lucille Franzen of Salt Lake City, Utah, and a brother Stan Fisher of San Carlos, Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George H. Christensen, a son George F. Christensen; three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. both times at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery.
