Obituary

Ann Ward Davenport, 78, of Rexburg, passed away June 4, 2013 due to complications from surgery. She was born March 2, 1935, in Bloomington, Idaho to Peter Erastus and Ida Ann Ward, the eighth of nine children. She attended schools in Bloomington and Paris Idaho, and went on to receive a secretarial certificate from Idaho Falls Business College.

On March 9, 1956, Ann married Lynn Harold Davenport in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Logan, Utah while Lynn finished school. They then made their permanent home in Rexburg where Lynn was employed by Ricks College.

Ann was a devoted mother of five children and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a shining example of motherhood and womanhood. She drew family and friends into her home by making it a warm and welcoming place. She was skillful in all areas of homemaking including gardening, canning, sewing, quilting and cooking. A caring, compassionate friend, she used her gifts and talents to serve and bless many, always placing the needs of others above her own. Ann had an appreciation for beautiful music, especially the hymns. She enjoyed singing often with Lynn and in various choirs and groups.

Her top priorities were home, family and the gospel. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully throughout her life in various callings. In 1993, she and Lynn had the rewarding experience of serving a Family History mission in Salt Lake City where they made many dear friends and memories. For the past six years Ann found great joy in serving as an officiator in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples. She leaves a legacy of faith, devotion, love, and laughter to all who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, her husband Lynn, and a grandson, Trevor Billman. She is survived by a son Roger L. Davenport of Seattle, Washington; daughters Elaine (Chad) Billman of Rigby, Diane (Lynn) Halversen of West Valley, Utah, Denise Antis of Rigby, Janae (Stephen) Service of Rigby; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 8 at the Park Street LDS Chapel in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and Saturday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetery.
