Ann Sophie Mickelsen, 89 , former long time Parker resident, died peacefully of natural causes at the Ashton Living Center.
Ann was born February 24, 1920 in New Salem, Pennsylvania to Agnes and John Yandura. She was the 8th of 12 children. At a young age during WW11 she moved to Michigan and worked as a Rosie Riveter. She then worked as a cook for an Attorney in Detroit, Michigan. It was in Detroit that she met the love of her life at a Military Dance.
She married Martin Mickelsen on July 7th 1943. They made their home for a short time in Michigan. They later moved to Idaho, where she did many odd jobs to help support her large family.
Ann was a faithful member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and loved to do volunteer work involving the church.
Ann and Martin had 6 children. She is survived by a daughter, Betty (Larry) Myers of Lake Dallas, TX; two sons, Keith (Joyce) Mickelsen, and John Mickelsen both of St. Anthony, ID; 14 grandchildren and several great-grand children. She is also survived by her sister Theresa Leitch.
She was Preceded in death by 2 sons, Paul Yandura and Kenny Mickelsen, a daughter Judy Nelson and her husband Martin Mickelsen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony). A Rosary Prayer service will be at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery.
