Myrtle Anona Ard Hansen, 82, returned to her Heavenly Father on Monday, December 5, 2011. She passed away at the home of her daughter in Victor, Idaho. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
She was born on March 30, 1929, in Tetonia, Teton, Idaho to Joseph Napoleon Ard and Myrtle Elizabeth Westover. Anona was the 5th of 9 children. She was raised in Driggs, Idaho where she attended schools, graduating from Teton High School. She lived in Driggs, Hibbard, Rexburg in Idaho and Tooele, Grantsville, Salt Lake City, Kerns and Wellsville, Utah.
She met Ray William Hansen, Her eternal companion on October 31,1948 and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on January 12,1949. Together they raised six children. Ray passed away September 25,1992.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many church callings. She served in the Salt Lake City and Logan Utah temples with her husband. After his death, she continued to serve in the Logan Temple. She also served a mission for the LDS church in Fort Worth, Texas.
She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed genealogy, playing games, camping, hunting, fishing and gardening.
She worked at O.C. Tanner, Woolworths and Beehive Clothing Mills in Salt Lake City. She and Ray moved to Wellsville, Utah where they started Hansen Upholstery and enjoyed that business and making new friends. She was a very loving, outgoing, happy and friendly person to everyone she came in contact with.
She is survived by three daughters; Bonnie (Mike) Thornock of Sandy Utah, Doris (Don) Medine of N. Ogden Utah, Pat (Tim) Schiess of Victor, and three sons; Mel (Margie) Hansen of Downey, Larry (Jackie) Hansen of Moose, Wyoming, Alan Hansen of Logan, 21 grandchildren, 42 great granchildren with two new great grandchildren due in the spring. She has two brothers; Donald Ard of Rexburg and Cleon Ard of Kearns Utah and three sisters; Wanda Jeppesen of Rexburg, Eva Furniss of Bates and Nelda Ricks of Alta Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two grandsons; Howard Lee Whitlock and Cody Tim Schiess, a great granddaughter Kalei Mae Carter and a great grandson Harold Colton Carter, her brothers; Lysle Ard, Doyle Ard and a sister Nadean Ard Wilding.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Sugar City LDS Stake Center (315 East 3rd South) with Bishop Craig Kunz of Victor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home. Special thanks to Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
