Sarah Arile Ottesen, 91, of Idaho Falls and formerly of Teton City, died December 8, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 26, 1925, in Burton, Idaho to John Richards and Margaret Painter Hill Beardall.
Arile met and dated Max Ottesen while they were attending high school. They were married on February 4, 1944, in Rexburg, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After their marriage they made their home in the Moody area where they raised their five children. For the past 20 years, they have spent their winters in Overton, Nevada and their summers in Island Park.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities.
Arile loved to work outside and loved the mountains were they spent a lot of summers at their lot in Island Park. She enjoyed reading and could always be found with a book in her hand.
She loved her family and grandchildren and was proud of all of them. Arile and Max did everything together and celebrated 72 years of marriage, love, and devotion to each other.
She is survived by her husband, Max of Idaho Falls; children, Linda Voss of Teton, Sven (Connie) Ottesen of Teton, Mary Ellen Young of Idaho Falls, Margaret (Dal) Steel of Plano, Marie (Michael) Rasmussen of Plano; 20 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, two sons-in-law, John Young and Ralph Voss, and two grandsons, Stacy Hansen and Chase Voss.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, in Rexburg. The family will receive friends and family Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
