IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur Flint
Smith
February 16, 1928 – March 22, 2018
On March 22, 2018 our dearest father and grandfather Arthur Flint Smith passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was born to Roy Arthur Smith and Catherine Elizabeth Flint Smith on February 16, 1928 in Salem, Oregon. He was raised in Parker, Idaho where he attended grade school and later high school in St. Anthony, Idaho. After his junior year at the age of 17, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp during WWII.
Following his time in the Marines he served a LDS mission in Uruguay where he developed a great love for the Hispanic people and their culture. He later attended Utah State University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He spent most of his working years traveling the world with IBM. He married Wilma Hill on May 12, 1950. They had three children Sandra Lynn Smith, Mary Louise Smith, and Catherine Hayes. They were later divorced and Arthur married the love of his life Maria Floralba Smith on June 1, 1968, in the Oakland, California LDS temple. They had eight children; Deborah Miles, Roy Smith, Patricia Rivera, Marilé Borget, Joseph Smith, Laura Faumui, Glen Smith, and Paul Smith. He has forty one grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Arthur loved his family very much and spent his life in their service. He truly was an example of charity and all ways made everyone feel welcome. He had a firm testimony of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. He had the opportunity to serve in many callings throughout the world and loved the people he served. These opportunities of service and the relationships he created were very dear to him. He was often found sharing counsel to those he loved, and telling them "to never speak unkindly to one another."
A family graveside service was held on March 23, 2018 at the Parker, Idaho Cemetery. He has returned to his Father in Heaven, reunited again with his wife Floralba, and all his dear family.
