“Leeroy Arthur “Art” White, 82, of Rexburg died Monday, September 7th, 2026, at his home of natural causes. He was born October 27th, 1943 to Lee and Matilda White in Rexburg,
Art was raised on his parents farm in Plano. The experiences on the farm gave him a fondness for gardening throughout his life, and his family benefitted greatly from the fruits of the labors there. While in school, he was a member of the Future Farmers of America and enjoyed the activities and associations there.
He graduated from Sugar-Salem High School in 1962. He worked various jobs for a few years following. While working at a potato warehouse in Rexburg, he met Larane Jarvis. They began dating and later got married on October 14th, 1966 in Rexburg. They were later blessed with three sons.
Not long after they got married, Art began working at the sawmill for Louisiana Pacific in Rexburg. He worked there for many years until the mill closed in 1996. He worked a few different jobs until he got a job at Sun Glo Potatoes. He worked there for many years more until he retired.
In early 1997 Larane started having some health issues that caused her to live in nursing homes for a number of years. Art spent as much time as he could visiting with her and taking her out for short stays at home. She eventually passed away in April of 2005.
After retiring, Art remained single and spent his time gardening, working on home projects, and reading. Throughout his life, Art was a masterful carpenter. He built tables, beds, and chairs for his family. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time in nature.
Art is survived by his sons - Jeff White of Salt Lake City, Troy White of Pocatello, and Shawn (Wendy) White of Boise; 3 grandchildren - Josh, Matthew, and Clarissa White; and two brothers - Hyrum and Glenn White.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his sisters- Doris, Edna, and Bonnie; his brothers- Asa, Blaine, and Ross; and his daughter-in-law Melodie (Troy) White.
In honoring his wishes, a small graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls. For any who plan on attending, there is no need to dress up. Art lived simply and would not need that to honor him. The family will be meeting for lunch afterwards at a restaurant to be determined.”
