IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Asel
Garner
December 6, 1951 – October 1, 2023
Asel Ray Garner, "Ace", a resident of Salem, Idaho, passed away on October 1, 2023 at the age of 71. Ace was born on December 6, 1951 in Rexburg, Idaho. He was the eldest of four siblings born to Asa Ray Garner and Sharon Hilton Garner. He was a hardworking individual who began helping out on his grandparent's farm in Monteview, ID from a young age. Ace was a caring big brother to his three younger siblings, although they also loved to tease each other.
Ace married Evalee Coy in 1971 in Rexburg, ID. They resided there until 1976 when the Teton Dam flood occurred. The family then moved to Salem on a piece of property that Ace's grandparents sold to him. Although their marriage wouldn't last, Ace and Evalee raised three children together- Terrie, A.J., and Brooke. Ace then married Shauna May in 1991. Another son was added to the family when Glen was born. Shauna and Ace also later divorced. Ace was incredibly proud of his children and their accomplishments.
Ace was renowned for his intelligence throughout his life and was even sought out by The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) for employment right after high school. He began working there as a general laborer at the age of 18 and continued working for ITD for 37 years until his retirement as a Principal Engineer in 2006.
In his free time, Ace enjoyed working outdoors in his yard, hunting, fishing, camping in Kilgore, and spending time with his family and friends.
Ace is survived by his children, Terrie (Mark) Pelot of Idaho Falls, A.J. (Shannon) Garner of St. Anthony, Brooke (Aaron) Kearsley of Victor, and Glen Garner of Salem and his 12 grandkids and 13 great grandkids. He is also survived by his siblings LaWanna (Ray) Archibald of Plano, Gwen (Dusty) Cureton of Rexburg, and Jesse Garner of Rexburg. Ace will always be remembered and loved by many.
