Barbara J. Parke, 72, our sweet angel passed away at her home May 2, 2013 after a valiant battle with Lung cancer.
Barbara was born December 4, 1940 in Pocatello, ID to Jean and Barbara Buffat. Barbara graduated from Pocatello High School and ISU with a Bachelor's degree in English.
Barbara married Bill Parke in November 1959, although they were later divorced.
She worked in various jobs as a Paralegal/Secretary. She then retired from the INEEL in 2001 and started visiting with people in grocery stores in surrounding areas…also known as doing food or product demonstrations.
Barbara LOVED to have a big garden and took great pride in harvesting and canning the produce for her family. In fact, she won awards for her canning.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was active in genealogy and was a faithful visiting teacher.
Barbara loved to sew and has made many quilts, baby quilts, clothing and other items for her family and others in the community.
Barbara has been involved in ESA-Epsilon Sigma Alpha International; a philanthropic service organization for 40 years. She has served in many leadership positions. She loved her ESA sisters and their friendship.
Barbara is survived by her 2 sons; Jay Parke (Terresa) of Rigby and Tad Parke (Tannis) of Teton, her mother Barbara Buffat of Pocatello and a brother Jack Buffat (Verona) of Pocatello, grandchildren Autumn (Ryan) Kamachi, Rachel (Keegan) Sorensen, Jodie (Paul) Jensen, Tyrel Parke, Matthew Parke, Alexis Parke and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Jean Buffat and her sister Vicky Bringhurst.
Memorial services for Barbara will be held at 11 AM Thursday May 9, at the Teton LDS church 44 Main Street, Teton; with Bishop Craig Carter officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the church prior to the services on Thursday.
She loved potted plants and encouraged donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Arrangements were handled by Bert Flamm Mortuary .
