Obituary

On Monday April 19th, 2021 we lost a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Barbara Dean Pettingill passed away from complications of corticobasal degeneration, a rare brain disorder that very slowly stole her away from us.

Barbara was blessed to have been born with her best friend at her side. The twins were born on February 3rd, 1967. She married the love of her life on May 12th, 1990. Together they raised their 3 children. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Barbara spent many years working in customer service, where she excelled in the art of happy sarcasm. She always went above and beyond at home and at work. She loved the outdoors: camping, hunting, fishing, and her true passion helping her husband in their garden. Barbara loved to have "her time" relaxing in a bubble bath with a good book. She also loved crocheting afghans.

Barbara enjoyed collecting two things: anything with tigers and any cool rocks. She was known for her quick wit, infectious smile, as well as her kind and compassionate spirit. Barbara was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had many callings her favorite was primary.

She is survived by her husband Monte Pettingill, daughter, Erika (Josh) Lehmkuhl, sons, Shawn (Sydney) Pettingill, Cory (Marissa) Pettingill, brothers, Darrin (DeAnna) Robertson, Lane (Bonnie) Orr, Cliff (Megan) Robertson, Greg Orr, Todd Pettingill, Sisters, Stephanie (Todd) Anselmi, D'Nette Orr, twin sister Beverly (Paul) Muir, Shelli Smith, father, Marshall Orr, grandkids, Kanesha Lehmkuhl, Damien Lehmkuhl, and Henley Pettingill, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Orr, sister Delana Marler, mother-in-law RaNae C. Smith, brother-in-law JR Smith, sister-in-law Kelli Smith Hillman and many other loved ones.

The family would like to thank Onesource for providing hospice services, with special thanks to Tegan and Jen for caring for and about Barbara. The family would like Jean Harris to know that there is absolutely no way we could have done this without her, you are so much more than a caregiver. You were her friend, our second pair of eyes, you kept us in line and made sure that we were doing everything possible for her. You will always be welcome in our home; you are family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 30th at 11:00am at the St. Anthony Stake Center (247 E. 4th N.) The Family will receive friends on Thursday April 29th from 6:00 pm to 7:30pm and again on Friday, prior to services, from 10:00am to 10:45am. Both times at the stake center. The funeral will be live streamed and a link will be posted on the obituary at www.flammfh.com where condolences may also be sent to the family. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.

Funeral services will be livestreamed and may be viewed here: https://youtu.be/K7bfAgxONBo
