Obituary

Belva McArthur Hill, 88 of St. Anthony, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009 at Spring Creek Manor in St. Anthony.

She was born May 14,1921 in Wilford, Idaho to George & Mary Elisabeth Birch McArthur. She was the ninth of ten children. Her father died when she was seven years old.

Belva grew up in the Wilford area – attending early school there and graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1939. The family moved to St. Anthony in 1938.

She married Grant Fred Hill on February 24, 1940 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in St. Anthony most of their married life.

She worked at the Fremont County Courthouse for many years – in the assessor's office and later on in the recorder's office. She was a member of the Soroptimist Club and later the WHO(Women Helping Others) Club.

Belva was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, genealogy, watching ball games, doing crossword puzzles and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children – Brenda (Stan) Hames of Phoenix, AZ; DeLoy (Shirley) Hill of Rexburg, ID; Lynn Hill of Parker, ID; Rick (Julianne) Hill of St. Anthony, ID; Suzanne (Thomas) Ricks of Rexburg, ID; and Lorelei (Layne) Armstrong of Ashton, ID; brother – Wayne (Ruby) McArthur of Preston, ID; 22 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.

Belva was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, siblings – Winnie, Pearl, Verda, Bertha, Jay, Elsie, Floyd and Elva; two grandsons – Brandon DeLoy Hill and Rulon Thomas Ricks and one granddaughter – Heidi Joanna Armstrong.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony 3rd and 4th Ward Chapel with Belva's son, Bishop Rick Hill officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. both at the Church. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family on line at flammfh.com
