Bernice Moon finished her canning her last box of pears on September 30, 2011.
Bernice Louise O'Nele Moon was born December 1, 1916 in Grand Island, Nebraska a daughter of Walter E. and Anna Louise Whistler O'Nele.
She grew up on a farm outside of Central City, Nebraska and attended school in the Lone Tree District 28 in Central City, NE. She attended 1st through 8th grades in the one room Lone Tree School House. She graduated from Central High School in 1934.
After graduating she worked her way out West and met her first love Wesley Flint. They were married and had a son Darrell. Wes was killed in military service during WWII.
Bernice later met an Idaho spud farmer named Arch Moon. They married in 1950 and settled on Arch's farm in Egin, Idaho. They had a daughter Luanne. She loved being a farm wife and a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her great grandchildren, Bri and Gus.
Quilting, crocheting, gardening keeping an organized and very spic-n-span home, canning & preserving and sewing were her hobbies.
Bernice is survived by her children, Darrell (Dorothy) Flint and Luanne (Dennis) Abegglen both of Egin, ID; 5 grandchildren and 2 & 1/3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, Wesley Flint and Arch Moon, her parents; brothers, Kenneth, Lloyd, Gerald, Duane and Darrel Richard.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Egin LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery.
Flowers would be wonderful but contributions to Primary Children Medical Center would be awesome.
