Bertha G. Smith, peacefully passed away, January 5, 2021. She was dearly loved by all who knew her.

Bertha was born July 11, 1940, to Ruth Louise Conger and Roy Evans Powell, in Warren, Ohio.

She graduated high school in Leavettsberg, Ohio and later got her bachelors degree from Youngstown State in business. After high school she married Lawerance Delano Smith and they had three children; Cindy, Bonnie and Steven.

In 1964, Lawerance and Bonnie were killed in an auto accident in California. Bertha was able to get a job at Packard Electric and later retired from there.

She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which brought her great joy. She loved music which is an understatement, at best. Asked once how she liked a movie at the theater, she commented that the music was wonderful, yet, she could not tell you about the movie.

She was in the Youngstown Symphony Choir and was able to travel to Europe with them.

She enjoyed genealogy and finding family stories. How she loved her grandkids, Arwen, Mikey, Gwen, Tony, Maddie, Tyler and Megan.

Everyone who knew our mother, loved her. She will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruth Powell; husband, Lawerance Delano Smith; sisters, Thelma Wilds, Faye Wilson; brother, Leonard Powell; son-in-law, Michael J. Powell; grandson, Michael D. Powell and great grandson, James Cutler.

Services and interment will be located in Warren, Ohio.
