Beth Hathaway
Virginia Beth Hathaway, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Ashton Living Center at the age of 96. She was a long time resident of St. Anthony where she and her husband S.J. Hathaway raised their family.
Beth was born August 20, 1919 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Joseph Hyrum and Blodwen Williams Seeley.
She Married Shirley Joseph Hathaway on August 30, 1940 at Chester, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized on June 23, 1942 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Beth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband served as ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for many years. She served in many callings in the church including a Relief Society presidency but is best known for her long years spent teaching Sunbeams and Nursery in the Primary.
She worked at many jobs, but mostly as a sales clerk at JC Penney's and Carter's in St. Anthony. Her most important work, however was her tireless service in raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is much loved.
She is survived by her children, Darres (Linda) Hathaway of West Valley City, UT; Dean (Bonnie) Hathaway of St. Anthony, ID; Val (Rayla) Hathaway of Chester, ID; daughter-in-law Patty Hathaway of St. Anthony, ID; and son-in-law Harold Mower of Ashton, ID; siblings, Elmo (Marilyn) Seeley; Max Seeley; Wilma Owens; Dwayne (Marie) Seeley; and Lloyd Seeley; She is also survived by 59 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Lynn and daughter Marla Mower, a grandson Dane Hathaway, a brother Mont Seeley and a brother-in-law Vic Owens.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center with Bishop Drostan Orme of the St. Anthony 1st Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E 1st N) in St. Anthony and on Monday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
