IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beth Pocock
Shirley
June 14, 1943 – July 13, 2025
Beth Ward Pocock was born on June 14, 1943 to Charles Clements Ward and Gertrude Elizabeth Ward of Salem, Idaho. She joined a home of seven siblings: Lila, Byron, Ludene, Glen, Yvonne, Wayne and Veda.
The Ward family moved to Caldwell, Idaho where they lived for 11 years before returning to Teton. Beth attended South Fremont High School where she met the love of her life, Ralph Pocock. They were married November 9, 1961 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Their first home was the "little red brick house" in Moody, Idaho where their first two daughters, Patrice and Julie joined the family.
On December 31, 1964 Ralph and Beth purchased their first farm just a quarter of a mile north of the "little red brick house". After purchasing the farm Ralph and Beth moved into a house on the farm where they later welcomed Brenda and Ray to complete their family.
In 1996, the decision was made to build a new home. Ralph and Beth moved a quarter mile north to the white house, which they built together and lived in until March 5, 2005, when Ralph unexpectedly passed away. At that time, there were many grandchildren, and the new home was a wonderful place for the family to gather.
On January 25, 2006, Beth married Arden Wade Shirley. They lived in the white house in Moody, spending their winters in Yuma, AZ. Wade and Beth continued to do this up until her passing on July 13, 2025.
Beth's first love was her family and friends. She enjoyed the friendships she built through church service and helping others. Beth also enjoyed softball, skiing, waterskiing, racquetball, and aerobics; she really missed doing these activities as her health deteriorated. This is when her new passion of quilting was born. She loved her quilt guild and the friendships she made through quilting.
Beth is survived by her children Patrice (Shawn) Walters of Newdale, Idaho, Julie (Jeff) Driscoll of Pocatello, Idaho, Brenda (Todd) Brower of Wilford, Idaho, and Ray (Jennifer) Pocock of Moody, Idaho. She is also survived by her sister Yvonne Taggert of Jerome, Idaho and her husband Arden Wade Shirley, 18 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Teton, Idaho LDS Chapel on Saturday July 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The family will have a visitation with friends prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 am. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery following the service.
