Betty Carol Norris Brassanini Obituary
Betty Carol Norris Brassanini returned to her Heavenly Father with honor and integrity on Sunday, May 19, 2024, peacefully surrounded by loving family. She was born on July 08, 1942, in Teton City, Idaho, the eldest of seven children born to Faye Loosli Norris and Wells Norris.
Betty graduated from St. Anthony High School and the LDS Business College. She then served her first of four missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in southern Brazil, a decision that would bless and impact hundreds of people and her family for generations to come.
Before her mission she met Peter Brassanini in St. Anthony, Idaho and they corresponded with each other throughout her mission. They were married on July 1, 1966 in the Idaho Falls Temple and were blessed with four children.
Peter worked for the Church Education System in Arizona by the Navajo Reservation, and in Brazil. In 1978 Peter, Betty and their three children moved to Brazil. She would spend the next 28 years there raising their children, including an adopted Brazilian son, Carlos, all while faithfully serving the Savior and people of Brazil whom she loved.
Peter and Betty served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints through many capacities while in Brazil, including as Bishop, Stake President, Mission President, Temple President, Temple Matron, and as temple workers.
Betty Carol was known for her kindness, patience, "get it done" attitude, quick intellect, and head for business and organizing. She had a passion for working with her hands and making beautiful creations that would bless her family and others through her talents. She was a voracious reader and talented pianist and organist. She had a real gift for genealogy and even traveled to Italy in the 1970s by herself in search of hard-to-find Brassanini-family names. She loved and served her children and grandchildren wherever they were at the time, in Brazil, Virginia, Wyoming, Texas or Idaho.
She is survived by her husband Peter Brassanini, children David (Cintia) of Sterling, VA, Michael (Luciane) of Olympia, WA, Maria Elaina Summers (Tim) of Helena, MT, and Carlos Brassanini of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is also survived by her siblings, Kay Norris, Netty Orme, Marlene Young and Sharolyn Steinmetz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wells Norris, Faye Loosi-Norris, and brothers Kenny and Terry Norris.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29th with visitation at 10:00am and funeral at 11:00am at the Parker LDS Church Building at 132 North Center Street, Parker, Idaho.
