Bonnie Grace Parkinson Rice, 81, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Rexburg, died Sunday, May 23, 2021.

She was born February 7, 1940, in Rexburg, Idaho to Edward H. and Grace Parkinson.

She attended elementary through high school in Rexburg, graduating from Madison High School.

She met her future husband, Jim Rice, of Ashland, Kentucky, while both were working at a local grocery store in Rexburg. They were married in Ashland, Kentucky, on November 27, 1962, and through special permission they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 1, 1962. They lived in Kentucky for 35 years and then moved to Rexburg.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in the Relief Society, Primary and many other callings. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She was a very talented, crafty person and loved doing ceramics. She was manager of a pizza and cookie place in the mall in Kentucky for many years.

She always enjoyed trips to Rexburg, to see family, while living in Kentucky.

She is survived by one daughter, Teresa (Bryan) Lynch of Lexington, Kentucky; one son, Charles David Rice of Boise, Idaho; three grandchildren, Diana (Wade) Wood, Robbie (Chelsea) Lynch, Barrett Rice; three great-grandchildren, Johnathan Pollard, Brighton David Thibault, Tristan Thibault; Siblings, Garry (Mary Jean) Parkinson of Rexburg, Idaho, Beth (Tom) Washburn of Grace, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Donald L. Parkinson; two sisters, Carma Rae Kearl and Colleen Denton.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Millhollow LDS Chapel, with Bishop Scott Galer officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.

Bonnie loved her pets so in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite pet shelter.
