Obituary

Bonnie Aileen Packer Price was born on May 29, 1928, she was the 9th of ten children born to Elmer Sharp and Hannah Elizabeth Crofts Packer in Rigby, Idaho. She passed away on December 24, 2015 at The Homestead (Carriage Cove), Rexburg, Idaho, after a short illness.

She grew up in Rigby where her father ran a service station, cream station and supply and feed store and for many years he was the night watchman for Rigby. On Saturday afternoons she and her sisters loved attending the town movie theater for 25 cents and their dad always gave them an extra nickel for a treat. Bonnie enjoyed baby sitting for members of their ward.

When Bonnie was a Freshman in High School her parents moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where her father worked for the railroad. Bonnie attended High School at Pocatello High School and found a job working at the Orpheum Theater. She loved Math and science and did very well in all her classes which helped her find a future job at Roger Brothers. Just after graduation from High School Bonnie found a job working for Garrett Freight Lines in Pocatello working as a book keeper and pay clerk.

In the fall of 1946 she attended the Blackfoot State Fair with her parents and met her future husband Ellis Ray Price, he was attending school in Pocatello. Bonnie and Ray were married on March 25, 1947, in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity. After Ray graduated from ISU they moved to the farm in Salem, Idaho.

During the years living on the farm in Salem their five children were born Marsha, Doyle, Beverly, Wayne and Peggy. As a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Bonnie served in many capacities, She served in Primary and Young Women's, she and Ray served as the Stake Family History Representative and helped the family history centers in the wards get computers and other equipment, She wrote the Salem Ward History Book and spent many hours talking to people and going to Salt Lake City History Department to their private sections looking for information on the Ward. She loved doing extractions and while serving in the St. Anthony Family History Center helping others with their genealogy, she had time to extract many hundreds of names.

Bonnie and Ray worked in the Idaho Falls Temple for 15 years and while there Bonnie served as the women coordinator for their time period. She put out the ward Monthly Newsletter for a few years and then later was the scheduler for the ward building. After retiring Bonnie and Ray served with Social Services having young unwed mothers live in their home until their babies were born.

In 1965, Bonnie started working for Roger Brothers as a Lab Technician. In 1982 she was promoted to Bacteriologist and Computer work. She retired from American Potato in 1989.

Bonnie an Ray served a mission in the Australia Adelaide Mission from 1995-1996. Bonnie loved to travel and they have been on many trips with their children. On their Fiftieth Wedding anniversary in 1997, Bonnie and Ray took their children and spouses to Hawaii. Bonnie was so happy to do this and she talked about it for the rest of her life.

Bonnie was always happy to be back home. She enjoyed being a mother and she made all of her girls clothing and boys shirts while they were young. Bonnie worked hard and she spend many hours helping Ray in the fields during planting and harvesting season. She learned to milk cows, grow a garden and learned to can to help feed her family. Bonnie taught her children to manage money and to make good decisions she also taught them be be grateful.

She supported wrestling matches, drill team events and gave her children the opportunity to take piano lessons. Bonnie loved Family History and made many history books of their ancestors. She wrote her life story for her family and made sure each of her children wrote their life stories to put in her book. She compiled family histories of her and Ray's brothers and sisters and also their grandparents and their families. She has submitted many names into the temple to have their work done. Bonnie always took food into the sick and to funerals because she loved the members of her ward family.

One of her grandchildren told us that Grandma Price showed her love through serving good food. Everyone of her children, grandchildren and great-grand children, friends and ward members enjoyed eating at her place because the food was always good. No one left her home without a homemade cookie or something else she had made to eat. In February 2015, she and Ray moved into Carriage Cove Assisted Living, in Rexburg, Idaho, which made it a lot easier for her family to visit her, she stopped baking but the treats continued to anyone who visited.

She is survived by her husband Ellis Ray Price her five Children, Marsha (Roland) Maharry, Rexburg, Idaho; Doyle Price (Susan Dalling), Rupert, Idaho; Beverly (Craig) Nelson, Rancho Cucamonga, California; Wayne Price & Peggy (Gary) Clements both of Rigby.
