Brad Holman

March 29, 1961 — May 2, 2026

Sugar City

Brad H. Holman, age 65, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the home of his beloved sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Tom Fleming, in Sugar City, Idaho. Born on March 29, 1961, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho, Brad entered the world with Down Syndrome—and with it, an extraordinary spirit that left a lasting impression on every life he touched.

Brad lived his life with remarkable faith, purpose, and joy. Baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age eight, he held both the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood and treasured his time attending the temple. He read the scriptures almost every evening until his eyesight faded, then listened to them on tape—seldom missing a night.

Mom and Dad raised Brad to be a champion. As a teenager, he qualified for the International Special Olympics in New York, placing in both the 100-yard dash and the high jump. His loyalty to Sugar-Salem High School sports was so unwavering that the student body honored him with his very own Lettermen’s jacket.

At age 19, in 1980, he was called to serve a mission at Deseret Industries in Murray, Utah. He stayed with two of his brothers and their wives, Randy and Siri Holman and Ken and Donna Holman until he was honorably released just before Christmas.

Brad was affectionate, cheerful, and wonderfully social. While living at Broadway Tower Condominiums in Salt Lake City with mom and dad, he passed the sacrament to President Gordon B. Hinckley on 27 separate occasions.

He was devoted to helping others. He crocheted hundreds of winter caps—sending over 100 to children in Africa—and gave the rest away freely to friends and neighbors. He also had a remarkable artistic eye for color, a deep love of music and hymns, and an enduring passion for the Utah Jazz, for movies, especially Top Gun Maverick or anything related to Christmas and for the TV series, Little House on the Prairie. Every holiday season, he donned his Santa suit and delighted children with his good nature, humor and heart.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Tedd Rider Holman and Donna Yvonne “Bonnie” Holman. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Ken and Donna Holman of Highland, Utah; Randy and Siri Holman of Cedar City, Utah (currently serving an LDS mission in Gdansk, Poland); Linda Stoddard of Washington, Utah; Lori and Tom Fleming of Sugar City, Idaho; Dustin H. Holman of Washington, Utah; and foster brother Duwaine Boone of Gallup, New Mexico.

The family is deeply and eternally grateful to Tom and Lori Fleming for the extraordinary love and care they gave Brad over the past three-and-a-half years. They welcomed him into their home and lives and treated him with the same tenderness, love, and respect as their own family. Lori especially, loved and lived near Brad, in Sugar City, Idaho, most of their adult lives. He went with Lori on her 100-mile-round-trip rural paper route for 40 years. Their selfless devotion will never be forgotten.

Brad more than fulfilled his mission on earth and is now at his eternal home with Mom and Dad and dozens, if not hundreds, of his relatives who have anxiously awaited his return home. May he rest in peace.
