Kenneth Brett Sommer, 54, of Rexburg, died Thursday, May 31, 2018 at his son, Kenneth Tyler Sommer's, home after his struggle with heart failure, in his sleep.
He was born February 7, 1964, in Rexburg, to his parents, Kenneth DeVon and Elaine Price Sommer. He shared three children with Brenda Fisher Despain and one with Cassandra Maupin. Brett was always known as being the life of the party. He had a laugh that was infectious and was literally making jokes until he took his last breath, despite his circumstances. His life was full of adventures and trials but he always found a way to look at the bright side and smile. Brett never had much money but when he did, he loved giving and helping those in need. He will be known as having the biggest and sweetest heart while always bringing joy to others lives by making them laugh.
He is survived by his children, Kenneth Tyler (Taylor) Sommer of Parker, Idaho, Jessica Danielle (Brandon) Sellers of Enoch, Utah, Tabitha Maupin of St Anthony, Idaho; siblings, Yvonne (Stan) Madsen of Moab, Utah, Cindy Lee Sommer of Draper, Utah, Monte Leroy Sommer of Parker, Idaho, Steve DeVon (Jennifer) Sommer of Spokane, Washington; 6 grandchildren that he loved so deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Amber Brittney Sommer.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony.) The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
