IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Briauna
Bergeson
August 22, 2005 – March 1, 2016
Briauna J Bergeson, 10, of Salem, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born August 22, 2005, to Kurt and Jesi Bergeson at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
The first 3 months of her life were perfect and worry free. Even though she was the tiniest little thing they had ever seen she started having a huge effect on many. At 4 months old she was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal abnormality and at that time they started a new way of life. She had many appointments on a regular basis but she was always happy, rarely complaining about the hard tasks she was asked to do.
No matter if you knew her for 5 minutes or her whole life everyone described her as an angel. She had the sweetest disposition and truly loved life, her family, and friends. She was able to attend BYU Idaho's child lab where she expanded her fan base. Even with her sweet personality she let it be known she didn't like it when they put her hands in textures. She loved to hold her own hands, mommy's and daddy's hands and daddy's beard, everything else she pulled away from. So as they tried many therapies to help with her sensitivity she in her own way let them know that was not very nice of them.
She was also able to attend a couple years at Sugar Salem Elementary school where she captured the heart of all the staff and her peers. At one parent teacher conference the teacher told of Briauna making a chore chart and at first they were taken aback because Briauana was so delayed they could not imagine what chores this girl could possibly do. With a shake of her head and a smile her teacher said no not for Briauna but the class everyone loves her so much we have had many fights over who gets to sit by her and push her wheelchair. Her parents were speechless, what an amazing gift.
Finally though she got to the point that her health didn't allow them to take her out much and decided to take her from school and therapies. At age 7 they made the difficult decision to put her on hospice no longer wanting for her to live in hospitals away from her family. They were very certain that that was going to be their last winter with her if she even made it through that and that little girl showed them just how strong she really was, as if they didn't already know.
She went through so much in her short life but it can honestly can said that she had the most loved, beautiful and happy life. Everyone who met her instantly fell in love and she fell in love with them. She has taught us all what pure love is and how to really enjoy a great song (besides her family music was her biggest love). In the early morning of March 1st Briauna snuggle in to the arms of her parents for the last time and peacefully returned to the arms of her heavenly father.
She is survived by her parents, and siblings, Tristan and Shaylyn. She is also survived by her grandparents, Lavoy and Nadine Bergeson, Kent and Lynette Hathaway, Rick and Melita Ortiz, Terry and Becky Clements, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her Great Great Grandma and Grandpa Barney, Great Grandpa Powell and Uncles, James Bergman, Jace Ortiz and Scott Summer.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Hibbard LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. both time at the church. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetery.
