With great sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, Bryan Doughdy Maughan, at the age of 59. Bryan was born on August 27, 1966, and passed away after courageously battling cancer for nearly three years.
Bryan lived a life filled with joy and love, raising five children alongside his beloved wife, Tracy Hatch Maughan. Bryan was profoundly attentive to the well-being of his wife, Tracy, and exemplified what it means to be a loving and faithful husband. He treasured time spent by her side, whether engaged in family games, thoughtful book discussions, dancing, hiking, or worshiping together in the temple.
Bryan was a deeply devoted father; he would drop anything to support his children. He was their greatest champion, endlessly encouraging their dreams, hopes, and aspirations for the future. His love for his family was also deeply rooted in gospel teaching. Bryan held a particular love for the Book of Mormon, and found moments to teach, testify, and strengthen their faith. He believed deeply in the doctrine of eternal families and strove each day to live in a way that reflected that eternal perspective.
A passionate learner and dedicated educator, Bryan exemplified a lifelong love of learning. His academic achievements included graduate-level study earning a Master’s degree and later a PhD in Organizational Leadership. Bryan made meaningful, lasting impressions on all those he taught, whether in the classroom or at church, forming deep and enduring relationships.
Bryan’s legacy of curiosity, service, faith, and humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life stands as a testament to perseverance, love of family, and unwavering faith in God, with memories that will be held in sacred remembrance.
Bryan is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy Hatch Maughan, and his loving children: Bryce, Isaac, Adam, Sarah, and Elizabeth.
