Bryce J. Rydalch, 78, passed away in his home on June 28, 2026, in Rexburg, Idaho. He was born on July 10, 1947, to James and Lillian Rydalch in Rexburg, Idaho. After graduating from Sugar-Salem High School, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Florida Mission.
Bryce met Mary Alice Johnson at Ricks College. When Mary went home to California for the summer, Bryce chased her there and found work nearby. They were married on January 30, 1970, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they created a beautiful family of 6 children, 24 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He was the most dedicated and supportive husband, father, and grandpa who made an effort to attend as many games, recitals, performances, and church events as possible.
Bryce was a longtime sports announcer and communications professional. He was one of the first to study broadcasting at Ricks College. He became a radio announcer while living in Provo, UT. He did play-by-play for local Southeast Idaho high school sports. He spent 15 years as a television sports director and broadcaster at KID (now KIDK). Bryce returned where he began, Ricks College, as the "Voice of the Vikings” announcing basketball and football games on the radio. He also worked as a communications coordinator at BYU-Idaho Radio before retiring from the university.
Bryce loved to sing and play the guitar, starting a band in high school that went on to play at college dances. He loved a good story and was known for his excellent speaking and narrating skills. He chose his words wisely, and they made an impact. As a father, he could make his point, whether expressing love or discipline, in few words. He enjoyed camping and was an avid fly fisherman with favorite spots in Henry’s Lake, Island Park, and Yellowstone. Summer road trips to California and the Oregon Coast were a favorite family tradition in the beloved “Vanna Brown.”
Bryce had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ as his Savior and Redeemer, which showed in his love for serving others and in his diligence magnifying his Church callings throughout his life.
Bryce is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Rydalch; children, Shad (Trina) Rydalch, Cherie Brown, Craig (Tanja) Rydalch, Anjanell (Brian) Hawks, Kristel (Collin) Hunter, Nicole Bruderer; sisters Glenda Bagley, Kay (Garth) Olsen; grandchildren, Tyler (Makayla) Rydalch, Lola (Grant) Williams, Greg Rydalch, Beya (Zach) Griffeth, Orion Rydalch, Nathan Rydalch, Jacob Rydalch, Samantha Rydalch, Brad (Jakob) Hawks, Aubryn Hawks, Reagan Hawks, Rylan Hawks, James Hawks, Wesley Hawks, Eden Hawks, Kylie Hunter, Breah Hunter, Addison Hunter, Clare Hunter, Ian Hunter, Silas Hunter, Morrison Bruderer, Jensen Bruderer; Great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Williams.
