Charley Byron McKague, 68, beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend. Passed away from complications with cancer in his home with family on August 17, 2024, Rexburg, Idaho.

Charley was born on April 21, 1956, in Missoula, Montana, to Charley and Verna McKague. He was the second of four children. Growing up Charley enjoyed playing games with his siblings, visiting with family, church basketball, and motorcycles. After High School he served his mission in Los Angeles, CA, during which time the Teton Dam broke and flooded his hometown.

Byron married Teresa Ann Haynes on February 16, 1979. While married they had three beautiful children Nathan (deceased), Kelli and Jenna. Together, they lived and raised their children in Sugar City, Idaho (GO DIGGERS!) until they finally settled in Salem, Idaho. Byron and Teresa were later divorced.

Byron later married the love of his life Tamara Kaye Rasmussen on May 7, 2003. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in February 2005. From this marriage, Byron gained 4 stepchildren, Ashley (Carl) Vermillion, Brittany (Adrian) Nelson, MacKenzie (Aaron) Burk, and Mitchell (Kaitlyn) Nelson.

Later in life he and Tammy became the adoring grandparents to twenty grandchildren and one Jaxon (canine child). In retirement they spent time taking road trips to see family, fishing, and camping up in Kilgore. The two of them lived happily in Salem, Idaho, until the untimely passing of his soulmate on November 19, 2022.

He is survived by his children, Kelli (Mike) Duncan; Jenna McKague; Ashley (Carl) Vermillion, Brittany (Adrian Ball) Nelson, MacKenzie (Aaron) Burk, and Mitchell (Kaitlyn) Nelson; his brother and sister: Russel McKague and Connie Zufelt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Verna McKague, son, Nathan Byron McKague, and eldest sister, Charlene.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 23, 2024, at Salem LDS Chapel at 11:00am. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Flamm Funeral Home from 5:30pm to 7:00pm and on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Salem Church from 10:00am to 10:45am prior to the service. Interment will be at the Sugar City Cemetery.
