Calvin Whitmore
Calvin Whitmore, 88, of St. Anthony, Idaho died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Medical Center of causes incident to age.
He was born October 29, 1923 at Drummond, Idaho to James Sheridon and Mary Viola Simpson Whitmore. He went to Fremont county schools in Squirrel and Ashton and graduated from North Fremont High School.
He married Dora Louise Bush July 23, 1943 in Rexburg. They made their home in the Drummond area where he farmed with his dad. He also ran a trap line in the winters. They lived in the Shelley area where he worked for Evan Huntsman. They moved to Idaho Falls where he worked for Jack Thomas grain elevators which led them to move to St. Anthony in 1956 where he worked for Orme & Ray Jergenson, Hopperdietzel Cheese, Jack Clark Masonry and Nielsen Brothers Construction. Highlights of his work were the construction of the Palisades Dam, homes in Jackson Hole and at Mammoth Hot Springs, and the Las Vegas Temple with Nielsen Brothers Construction.
He is survived by children, Ray (Jeanne) Whitmore of St. Anthony, ID; Betty Stevens of St. Anthony, ID; Carol (Jim) Nielsen of Las Vegas, NV; Jeff (Stacy) Whitmore of St. Anthony, ID; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dora, his son Jim, 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:00 in the St. Anthony 3rd Ward Chapel with Bishop DelRay Davenport officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony) and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
