Obituary

Carl K Rasmussen, our loving and kind father, grandfather and a friend to all he met, passed away Friday, January 28, 2010 at the age of 82.
He was born November 30, 1927 in Ashton Idaho to Carl Christan Rasmussen and OrReva Gardner. His family later moved to Newdale where he grew up.

Carl (or affectionately known as "K" to many family and friends) graduated from Sugar-Salem High School in 1946. He served in the US Marine Air Corps during WWII. He was drafted during the Korean War and served in the Army.
K graduated from Ricks College where he played football for the Vikings and earned a degree in Physical Fitness and Recreation.

He married Marjorie D. Ricks on July 11, 1952, in the Idaho Falls Temple and raised a family of 4 sons and one daughter in Rexburg, Idaho. He taught and coached at Madison High School before joining the city police force. He took a job at Argonne National laboratory on the security force where he was employed for 29 years.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and was currently serving as a home teacher and temple worker in the Rexburg Temple.
He was a member of the Son's of the Utah Pioneers and loved serving his neighbors throughout the community.
K was married for 45 years before Marjorie passed away in 1997. He found great joy in his family that numbers 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He loved the outdoors including fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, bird watching and walking to name a few.
He is survived by K. L. Rasmussen (Kerri), Robert Rasmussen (Karin), David Rasmusen (Debbie), Brett Rasmussen (Kathy) and Julie Tirrell (Doug). Also three sisters Yvonne, Bonnie and Freddie (Ray).
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday at the Rexburg LDS Chapel on Park Street. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday from 10: 00 to 10:45 am at the church. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery with military rites by the Madison County Veteran.
In lieu of flowers the family requests all donations be made to the Humanitarian Foundation.
