IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol
Dodge
March 23, 1949 – October 3, 2022
Lea Carol Dodge passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, October 3, 2022. Carol was the oldest daughter born to Newell "Bill" and LaDeen Slack. She was raised in Southeast Idaho where she graduated high school and later completed beauty school. Carol met her sweetheart, Reuben Dodge, and was married in 1967 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Reuben and Carol had four children Brenda, Catina, Shane, and Travis Dodge.
Carol's love for her family was profound, unconditional, and endless. She was a fantastic listener, problem solver, and definite truth-teller. There was never a question as to what she was thinking or meaning. Carol had unlimited talents. She was an amazing seamstress who could crochet designer blankets, clothes, and keepsakes, and even crocheted all her grandchildren's blessing clothes. Her desire and commitment to her family was unprecedented. When the family lived in Alaska, Brenda volunteered her mom to make over 100 designer cakes for a fundraiser which she did without complaining. Her cakes made more than the bakery that also donated. Carol was always busy helping anybody in need. She was very service oriented. Even when Carol became unable to walk, she continued to serve others in every way possible. Carol sold Avon for many years, and even when she was unable to get around, she continued to sell to her community by phone and with the help of her family; especially her husband who spent many hours handing out Avon books and then delivering the orders.
Carol was proceeded in death by her parents, her son Shane, and her grandson Wyatt. Carol is survived by her husband Reuben, daughter Brenda (Pila) Hafoka, Catina Smith, and Travis (Katie) Dodge; 12 grandchildren; Seletute, Litia, Takapautolo, Viliami, Ryan (Cheyenne), Jordan, Ryker, Shaylee, Lolomanaia, Tyson, Sydnie, and Noelani. Carol also has one great-grandson, Lolomanaia.
The example she set for us through her strength and resilience, despite all of her hardships, made us all who we are today. The love that she and Reuben shared for one another is evident through the sacrifices and commitment shown over the years. She is out of our sight but will forever remain in our hearts.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilford Cemetery.
