Carol Alice Mortensen, 70, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at her home. She was born December 29, 1942 in Salem, Idaho to Annes G. and Maud Mortimer Mortensen.
She graduated from Sugar Salem High School and received her Associate degree from Ricks College.
Carol was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission in Southern California.
She was a member of the Army National Guard from 1974 until 1996 with over 22 years of service. She also worked full time for the military in logistics in a civil service capacity. After retiring from Civil Service she worked at the Rexburg Walmart for more than 15 years.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, knitting, crocheting, playing softball, volleyball, basketball and tennis. She also enjoyed horseback riding and was a member of a 4H Horse Club.
Carol is survived by her siblings, Ellen Marie (Carlo) Erickson of Archer, ID; Arlene (Paul) Bauer of Pocatello, ID; Linda (David) Sant of Clifton, ID; Charlotte (Clyde) Bybee of Evanston, WY; Maryanna Farrer of Thornton, ID; Veda Jean (Kent) Poppleton of Tremonton, UT; James G. Mortensen of Salem, ID; and a good friend Margo Neider. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Annes and Kendell Mortensen and 1 sister, Julie Mortensen.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N. 1st E., Rexburg, ID. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery withe military rites by the Madison County veterans and the Idaho Honor Guard. .Condolences may be sent to www.flammfh.com.
