IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Sue
Nef
July 29, 1933 – June 7, 2023
Carol Sue Nef passed away surrounded by her family at Madison Memorial Hospital on June 7, 2023, just shy of her 90th birthday.
She was born on July 29, 1933 to Maude Armstrong and James H Reed in Ririe, Idaho. She was the youngest of 10 children. She grew up on Butler's Island and attended Ririe schools, graduating from Ririe High School. By coincidence, while working at Kresses Drug Store in Utah, she and Weldon Nef met. They were later married on April 11, 1952 in the Idaho Falls Temple. To this union they were blessed with 6 children. They lived in Ririe for a short time after their marriage and later moved to Independence. After Weldon's father passed away, they purchased the family home and farm in Burton.
Carol was a hard worker and very involved in the farming, always working side by side with Weldon. They not only did farming, but raised cattle as well. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in various callings. One of her favorite callings was chorister. As a couple they served a mission at the Idaho Falls cannery for 18 months. Carol was known for doctoring any and all neighborhood children as well as her own children. She opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay and/or a meal. She always had a hot meal for the farm hands during harvest. Carol always had a large garden and a large raspberry patch and did a lot of canning. She loved to sing and was involved in various choirs throughout the valley. Other hobbies included: traveling, going for drives, quilting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Cathryn (David) Michaelis, John Nef, Jeana Nef, James (Margo) Nef, Connie Parker, Louise (Blair) Fisher, her sister Barbara Clarke, brother–in-law Arnold Nef, sister-in-law Belva Garner. She has 21 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and siblings; Verdas Reed, Eloise Reed, Eleanor Bennion, Claire Reed, Ruth Withers, Glenn Reed, Gale Reed, Delaine Young, grandson Travis Michaelis along with 2 great granddaughters.
