Carolyn Taylor Clark, 74, passed away Tuesday, December 29, in St. Anthony, Idaho, at the home where she had lived for the past 17 years. Carolyn Lee was born June 19, 1941, in St. Anthony, Idaho, the eldest daughter of Bert and Dorothy Taylor. She attended South Fremont High School, participating in pep club, student governments, and on the school yearbook staff.
Carolyn attended only one year of college. It was during this time that she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Clark, also of St. Anthony, on August 31, 1960, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.
As a young mother, Carolyn was always involved in the education and activities of her children. She served many years as a Cub Scout den mother, and then later in various positions within the LDS Church, such as Primary President and Relief Society President. As her children moved into high school, she served as a speech and debate judge for regional tournaments. In 1984 her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis (MS) forced changes to what had previously been an active and outdoor lifestyle. She then rededicated herself to church and community service, while courageously confronting the steady progression of her debilitating illness.
Even after MS took away her ability to walk, Carolyn focused on the service she could still provide her family: collecting, organizing, scrapbooking and preserving genealogical information. Right up until the MS was compounded by the cancer that took her life, she was always providing updates and histories for her growing family.
The family would like to express our deep appreciation for all those, friends, neighbors, family, and care givers, that stopped in to check up on her, brighten her day, deliver a treat or meal, and the countless hours spent taking care of her every need.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Richard. She is survived by sisters: Laureen (and Kent) Wallis, Maureen (and Tom) Despain, Jeanne Tidwell, Susan (and David) Davis, and brother, Steven Bert (and Terry) Taylor, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her children: Trent (and Rebecca) Clark of Soda Springs, Marianne Cook of Rigby, Cory (and Jodi) Clark of Victor, Nathan Clark of LeGrand, OR, and Jennifer (and Jeremy) Leavitt of Sugar City, 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, January 4, 2016, in the St. Anthony 1st LDS Ward Chapel (247 East 400 North, St. Anthony). The family will receive friends Sunday, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony,) and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be immediately following the funeral in the Riverview Cemetery in St. Anthony. The family suggests memorials to Carolyn in the form of donations to the National MS Society (http://www.nationalmssociety.org).
