Carolyn Roberts
Carolyn Roberts, 69, of Rexburg died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at her home. She was born March 26, 1942 in San Francisco, California to Therma and John Roberts. She grew up in San Francisco California and then worked and lived in Rexburg, Idaho.
After high school she attended Brigham Young University where she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Anthropology. She also studied abroad at the University of Vienna and the University of Salzburg. She did graduate studies at the University of Michigan and the University of California Berkley.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions including her service in the Stake Relief Society Presidency and Stake Young Womens Presidency. Her favorite calling was her current position teaching Relief Society.
She spent more than 30 years counseling young men and women at Ricks College. She organized the 1st Phi Beta Kappa at Ricks College. She was chairperson of the Women's Awareness Committee. She taught religion and developed her own curriculum for the class which was approved by the church educational system.
She was an avid genealogist, photographer, world traveler, and temple worker.
She is survived by her niece Cynthia Louise (David) Van Dam of New Orleans, Louisiana, nephews, John Allen (Tamara) Hawes of Dayton, Ohio, and Michael Lee (Amy) Hawes of Boston, Massachusetts, as well as 7 great nephews and 2 great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Therma Leone Lincoln and John Leo Roberts and her sister Suzanne Roberts Hawes.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 16th at the Park Street LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
