Carolyn Nave Smith, 74, of Idaho Falls, died February 16, 2016 of natural causes. She was born June 29, 1941 in Moody, Idaho to Martin Lewis and Ethel Ann Reese Nave. She was the youngest of five children, the only girl with four brothers.
She grew up in the Moody and Sugar City area on the family farm. She attended schools in Sugar City and graduated from Sugar-Salem High School.
She married Larry Ben Smith and four children were born to this union; Karen, Terry, Tammy and Bradley. Carolyn and Larry later divorced.
Carolyn loved the food industry and moved to Pocatello in 1982 to attend cooking school at ISU. She worked as a cook at the Idaho Temple for 10 years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including working in the ward library for 15 years.
In 1988, she was introduced to scrap booking which she enjoyed very much. Her favorite hobby was getting pictures of her family.
She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Brenda, Riley, Britney, Andy, Brandy, Carol Ann, Martin and Elizabeth. Then came her great-grandchildren, Braxton, Tayson, Kamri, Summer, Austin, Ellie, Nickie, and Emilia.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Salverson of Blackfoot, Terry (Richard) Lockyer of Idaho Falls, Tammy O'Kesson of Fort Hall; brothers Keith Nave of St. Anthony, Reese Nave of Idaho Falls, Robert (Darlene) Nave of Utah, and Blair (LaRain) Nave of Idaho Falls; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley L. Smith; grandson, Andrew Rupe and granddaughter Britney Lockyer, and a son-in-law Mel Salverson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
