Carolyn Snapp Thompson, age 68, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14,
2010, in Rexburg, ID. She was a patient at The Homestead Assisted
Living center; she died of natural causes after suffering throughout
her life from bipolar disorder, osteoarthritis, and
finally--Alzheimer's disease.
Carolyn was born on Oct. 10, 1942 in Washington D.C. to Nathan Judd
Snapp and Edith Doutré Snapp. She attended Escondido High School
(1960) where she met her future husband Larry G. Thompson (1958).
Later she graduated from BYU in Home Economics in 1965 and received
her Library Science degree from Idaho State.
Carolyn married Larry G. Thompson on Sept. 2, 1964, in the Los Angeles
LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children: Marc
(Jill)—Highland, UT, Lora Clark (Tim)—Austin, TX, Alison Christiansen
(Ron)—Layton, UT, and Heather Baldwin (David)—Cumming, GA.
Carolyn taught kindergarten for many years and was a substitute
teacher and later the librarian at Madison High School.
Her greatest joy was serving others. She delivered roses to patients
in the Rexburg Nursing Home; she volunteered at the Teton Flood
Museum; she volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center and also served a
two-year part-time mission at the LDS Humanitarian Center in Rexburg.
She served in numerous church positions throughout her life.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Larry, their four children, 15
grandchildren, and three brothers: William (Bill), Warren, and
Douglas. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct.
23, 2010 at the LDS 15th Ward Chapel in Rexburg, ID (166 South 1st
East). There will be no viewing. The Thompson family would like to
thank the staff at The Homestead for their loving care of Carolyn
during her final six months of life. They would also like to thank
both Dr. Michael Packer and Dr. Richard New for their kindness and
professionalism over the years as well as all those who knew and loved
her.
