Charles Witzel Ramsey, age 88, passed away on Sunday , February 18, 2024 in Rexburg, Idaho. He was born, May 23, 1935 in Ducktown, Tennessee, to Julia Frances Cain Ramsey and William Henry Ramsey.  He was the 9th of 11 children.  He married his sweetheart in Elko, Nevada.  They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on Aug. 22, 1978.  He is survived by his sister, Claire Jean; and his four children, Clay Ramsey (Cindy), Lucinda Ramsey Torrez (Jody), Ryan Ramsey, Kevin Ramsey (Kay), His 16 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Charles grew up in Ducktown with his siblings, he lost his father and mother as a teenager, his brothers and sisters were very important in his life and guided him through his formative years.  Charles entered basic training with the Navy on April 14, 1954. In 1961 he moved aboard the USS Enterprise and became Chief Petty Officer E-7.  1964 he was honorably discharged as from the Navy. He then started his career with the Los Alamos National Laboratory.  He achieved many advancements because of his intelligence and hard work ethic.  Those advancements normally and especially today would not happen without a degree. 'They raised their family in Los Alamos and created many great memories and had great experiences with really good friends. Charles and Diana retired to Elk Bend Idaho to a beautiful home on the Salmon River.

Education was very important to Charles. He and Diana were avid supporters of schools locally and abroad. Charles valued God, Family, and Country. He loved spending his time in the outdoors.  He was an great outdoorsman and loved to teach others about his love for God's creation and the life lessons one can learn from it.  He truly had a great reverence for the world God created and his legacy lives on in his grandchildren and great  grandchildren.  A duty to care for and reverence this great country is what he was loved for.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents, Julia Ramsey and William Ramsey. His siblings; Mary, Edith, James, Elsie, William, Melbourne, Brian, Walter and Frances. His loving wife, Diana Ramsey.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11:00 A.M at Flamm Funeral Home. Viewing will be about an hour prior to the funeral . Graveside,  Color- guard ,Military Honors will begin at 12:30 pm at the Roberts Cemetery.
