Charles Leslie Rawson, "Chuck" a cherished and vibrant soul, passed away at the age of 99 on June 23, 2024, in Smithfield, UT, following a hard fall. Born on January 12, 1925, in St. Anthony, Idaho, His life was marked by his outgoing nature, inventive spirit, and profound love for his family and friends.
Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. After returning from the war, he began a diverse career, initially working for Fisherman's Bridge in West Yellowstone, MT. He later joined B.M Tibbits in the potato industry and concluded his professional journey at St. Anthony Saw Mill, retiring in 1987 after nearly three decades of dedicated service.
In 1958, after two years of courtship, Charles married Pearl Guymon, who remains to cherish his memory. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and love. Charles is also survived by his brother, Alvin Rawson; sister, Lyla Prather; his children, Steve Rawson (Wendy) of Roberts, ID, Dewayne Rawson of Riby, ID, Kathy Ours (Ed) of Rexburg, ID, Karen Rhymes (Jay) of Fairbanks, AK, Jerry Rawson (Cyndi) of Smithfield, UT, Betty Lacey (William) of Chapin, SC, and Charles Rawson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie LeRoy Rawson and Sarah Elizabeth Wright, and his siblings, Albert, William, Richard, Edward, Mary, Florence, and Martha.
A man of many interests, Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, and playing music on his guitar and harmonica. He was an active member of the Old Time Fiddlers and enjoyed participating in Cowboy Poetry gatherings. His deep faith was reflected in his lifelong membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Memorial services will be conducted by Flamm Funeral Home and held at the Salem LDS Church, 3470 N Salem Rd, Rexburg, ID 83440, on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Viewing will begin at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. Our family wants to extend a big thank you to Symbii Home Health & Hospice for the care he received prior to his passing.
Charles's life was a testament to the joy of living authentically and loving deeply. His legacy of laughter, resilience, and generosity will forever be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
