Obituary

Cherilyn Rogers Muir, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on February 18, 2024, at the age of 75 in Rexburg, Idaho.

She was born October 16, 1948, in Rigby, Idaho to Dean Russell Rogers and Bonnie Deveraux.  She graduated from Rigby High School in 1967 before attending Ricks College in Rexburg.  She married Vernon Muir on May 29, 1969, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.

Cherilyn was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother of four boys, finding joy in her role and treasuring her 12 grandchildren.  She shared her many talents by creating a beautiful home for her family.  She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and decorator with an eye for color and flower design.  She loved genealogy and organized albums, histories and photos for Family Search.

Professionally, she worked as a secretary and receptionist for various local schools and businesses, notably spending fifteen years working in a local dental office. Actively involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held multiple leadership roles, including three terms as Relief Society President, and served as a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Rexburg, LDS Temple alongside her husband Vernon.

Before settling in Rexburg for the last two decades, Cherilyn and Vernon had resided in Utah, Montana, and Washington where Cherilyn cultivated many enduring friendships. Upon retirement, they embarked on a 5th wheel trailer adventure across the mountain west, making cherished memories with family and friends.

Cherilyn is survived by her husband Vernon; her children Michael (Kim) Muir of Culver City, California, Brandon Muir of Trenton, Utah, Jeff (Hayley) Muir and Cameron Muir both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and siblings Richard Rogers of Boise, Idaho, Clifford Rogers (Debra) of Everett, Washington, and Lynette Madsen (Lamar) of South Jordan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law Lynette Thomas Rogers and Pamela Muir, and brother-in-law John Olsen.
