Obituary

Christopher Thomas Wood, 25, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, died August 13, 2014. He was born in Rexburg, Idaho and moved to Goodman, MO at the age of 16. At the age of 19, Chris moved to Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada where he lived with his dad and started working in the oilfield as a scaffolder. He attended Rexburg schools and received his GED at Crowder College in Neosho, MO, after which he attended Crowder College.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Chris was the most amazing person with the biggest heart. He was loyal to his family and friends and had never met a stranger in his life! He was bigger than life itself and lit up a room with his smile. His love and compassion for others filled Chris with a desire to seek a future in nursing where he could give back to those who gave so much for him as he battled his own health issues; he would have made a wonderful nurse. The angels above are rejoicing in reunion and the heavens are shining more brightly with the light of his love. He carried his sister, Alexa, in his heart every day of his life and they are now spending their time together.

Christopher married Jocelyn Devi on May 13, 2011, in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. He was blessed with a beautiful son, Jayden who he absolutely adored. Never has a father loved his son more than Chris loved Jayden and it is evident through Jayden's love and devotion for his dad. Chris loved his family and had a special compassion, love and abundant joy. Chris will be greatly missed and remembered by all.

He is survived by his son, Jayden Wood, his wife Jocelyn Wood, his father Neil Wood of Ft. McMurray, Alberta, his mother Alisa (Ron) Granger of Riverton, WY, his siblings, Katie Treadway of Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Benjamin (Natalie) Wood of Chicago, IL, Angela (Kade) Stears of Rexburg, ID, Michael Wood of Riverton, WY, Cassandra (Michael) Crowe of Monett, MO. He is also survived by his grandmother, Doris Kelly of Stella, MO.

He was preceded in death by his little sister, Alexa Wood of Rexburg, grandparents, Thomas Manning Breazzeal of Monett, MO, Kenneth Grant Wood of Cardston, Alberta, and Colleen Smillie of Lethbridge, Alberta.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Henry's Fork LDS Stake Center, 1508 West 3000 North, in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
