Obituary

Clara Jean Nelson Bills, 86, of Sugar City died August 27, 2009 at her home. She was born August 20, 1923 in Cedar City, Utah, to Roice Bengt and Emma Lambson Nelson.

She graduated with an associate degree from Branch Agricultural College, in Cedar City, where she was Valedictorian. She earned her bachelor degree from Utah State University, in Logan, where she was presented a Citizenship Award. She received her teaching certificate from Utah State University. She went on and earned a Masters Degree from Brigham Young University. She worked as a teacher, and served on the State Idaho Teacher's Association. She also had the experience of going to Chicago for the 4-H National Convention for sewing.

She married Seth Hamilton Bill on September 6, 1945 in the Manti LDS Temple, in Manti, Utah.

She lived in many places including, Logan, UT, Cedar City, UT, Lava Hot Springs, ID, Provo, UT, Portage, UT, Cresent, UT, Bloomington, IN, Ethiopia and Sugar City, ID.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as President of Lambda Delta Sigma, at Utah State. She taught Gospel Learning and Teaching for Our Times in the Relief Society, she also taught Teacher Development and Gospel Doctrine. She served as second counselor in the Stake Primary in the Sugar City Stake.

Her hobbies included quilting, knitting, crocheting, reading and playing the piano.

She is survived by her children, Conrad G. (Cheryl) Bills of Uniontown, OH, Bruce R. (Sue) Bills of Sugar City, ID, Shauna M Hurd of Sugar City, ID, Dale S. (Rita) Bills of Spanish Fork, UT, Kathleen (James) Gordon of Rexburg, ID, as well as 32 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Edward "Ted" A. (Vana) Nelson of Cedar City, UT, Luana (Lloyd) Warner of St. George, UT, Shirley (Willis) Gurr of Cedar City, UT, and a sister-in-law Elaine Nelson of Cedar City, UT.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Seth Bills, grandchildren, Joseph Bills and Nathaniel Astorga, siblings, Howard R. Nelson, Garth "Bud" Nelson, Richard "Dick" Nelson and Marie Krueger.

The family would like to thank all those who helped in taking care of their Mother, especially those at Aspen Home Health & Hospice.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, at the Sugar City LDS Stake Center. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Seth & Clara Jean Bills Scholarship fund at BYU-Idaho, BYU Philanthropies, 220 Kimball, Rexburg, ID 83460-1655.
