Claude Tuckett, 97, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, in his home at Prestige Senior Living, Nampa, Idaho with his son at his side. Claude was born on May 4, 1925, in St. Anthony to Lorenzo Frisby and Erma Garn Tuckett. He was the 8th of 10 children. Claude grew up and attended school in St. Anthony until April 1943 when he enlisted in the US Navy to support the USA in World War II. He received an honorable discharge in April of 1946 after which he attended the University of Nevada Reno. College was not to be his niche so he returned home to find employment and his returning home became a great blessing as it was then that he met and later married Shirlene Beech in May 1949, whom he was with until her death in the fall of 2015. They had two children Tana Poulsen and Todd (JaNece) Tuckett. Prior to having children, the couple has lived in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls and a short time in Wyoming but returned to the Upper Snake River Valley and settled in Rexburg. Claude worked at the Rexburg Food Center where he was the manager of the Produce Department for 30 years until his retirement in 1987. Retirement was short lived as he always had some sort of job after that such as the Clerk at the Viking Motel, deliveries of the Standard Journal throughout the valley, and completed working with 20 years at the Rexburg Walmart. With his actual retirement in June of 2016, Claude moved to Malta, New York to live for 3 1/2 years with his son and daughter-in-law. New York provided a real opportunity for Claude to see and attend sites and events such as the Yankees and Giants. Both the baseball and basketball halls of fame, forts Ticonderoga and William-Henry, National Sites and Monuments in Washington DC, opera singers and symphonies, Lake Placid, historical LDS sites, and numerous other places and events. In November of 2019 Claude decided it was time to return to Idaho, so he moved to Boise to spend time with his sister and then settled in Nampa at the Prestige Retirement home until the time of his passing. As a child Claude loved playing with his brother Paul and they enjoyed swimming and diving off the St. Anthony Bridge into the Snake River. He loved music his entire life and enjoyed singing in ward choirs and was known to sing at the Prestige Home being 96 years old and accompanied by his 97-year-old piano player, "Dub". While in the Navy he tried out for the Navy Band playing the French horn but was not selected. He loved to help people which made him so good at his jobs and giving service to his numerous LDS callings and positions both in town and at Ricks College. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife and seven of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his younger sisters Auline Stahl (Missoula) and Esther McArthur (Boise), his 2 children, 9 grandchildren (plus spouses), 34 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. Services will be held 11:00, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Flamm Funeral home (61 North 1st East, Rexburg) with the family receiving friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to services, and then directly followed by a grave dedication and last good-byes at the Sugar-Salem cemetery.
