Obituary

John "Clyde" Lusk, 88, of Idaho Falls (formerly of Menan) passed away peacefully on February 12th 2016, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family at MorningStar Senior Living.

Clyde was born September 1st 1927, to John D. and Lucy Pieper Lusk in Pocatello. He spent his childhood in Sugar City. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Iowa. On May 28th 1954 he married Marilyn Dustin in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Also in 1954, Clyde graduated from Ricks College and started teaching high school in Roberts. Later, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Science from Idaho State University.

In 1961, Clyde began work for the Atomic Energy Commission at the INL site.

While residing in Pocatello, Marilyn and Clyde adopted three children, Jeffrey, Lynlee and Valerie. The family later moved to Albuquerque, N.M., where Clyde continued working as a chemist. In 1977, he retired due to health concerns but ultimately returned to work as a radio chemist for the state of New Mexico. Marilyn passed away in 1980.

On May 13th 1983, Clyde married Barbara Overton-Redd in the Arizona LDS Temple. This marriage brought two step-sons Steve and Dean into Clyde's life. Clyde and Barbara moved to Menan in 1995 and in 2012 they moved to Idaho Falls.

Clyde and Barbara have 17 grandchildren.

Clyde had many hobbies. When he was younger he loved dancing and vegetable gardening; especially trying to raise prized tomatoes. Later on, he enjoyed walks with his dog, Suki.

Clyde is preceded in death by his parents John D. and Lucy Lusk, as well as his first wife Marilyn J. Dustin Lusk. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Overton) Lusk, his children Jeffrey Lusk, Lynlee Lusk, Valerie Divett, Steve and Lauri Redd and Dean and Brooke Redd, as well as his eight siblings and their spouses and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 17th 2016 at the Ammon West Stake Center (Stonehaven Ward building), 2055 Coronado Street, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 16th, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East Rexburg and again from 10:00 -10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.

The family would also like to thank Encompass Hospice and MorningStar Senior Living for their loving care and support during his final days.
