Cody Kip Howard 59, of Rexburg, Idaho died peacefully at home on November 17th from a short battle with colon cancer.
Cody was born September 1, 1957 in Rexburg, Idaho, the third child of Bud and LaRee (George) Howard. Cody grew up in Rexburg and attended Madison High school. He had many friends who were a positive influence on him and changed the course of his life.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1976-1978 in the London England South Mission. During this time, he made lasting friendships and kept in contact with these friends even to this day. Cody married his high school sweetheart, Sheri Marie Winger on May 10, 1979 in the Idaho Falls Temple. This year, they celebrated 37 years of marriage. Cody studied welding and business at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where he earned his degree.
During his life, Cody worked for many people in Rexburg and was a hard and dependable worker. In 1982 he and his friend Mike Nelson started a carpet cleaning business, Heaven's Best Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. Cody's education in business and work experience allowed him to sell franchises and grow the business into a large international company with over 1200 franchises in the US, Canada and England. Cody loved helping people be self- employed and teaching them to run their own business.
Cody was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many leadership positions including Bishop of the Rexburg 14th ward and also as a Bishop in a student ward at the BYU-I University. Cody loved serving and working among the young people. He was currently serving as a teacher in the Primary and loved working with the children of the church.
Cody was a quiet person and always thought of and looked out for others before himself. He was kind and generous, patient, a good problem solver, and always cheerful. His hobbies included his family, his Heaven's Best business, Monday night bowling league, and serving the Lord. He liked being outdoors, going on walks and bike rides, and playing with his grandchildren.
Cody is survived by his wife Sheri (Winger) Howard of Rexburg Idaho. Children; Adam John (Danielle) Howard of Rexburg Idaho, Natasha (Gregory) Brenchley of West Jordan Utah, and Holly (Ben) Munns of Rexburg Idaho. Ten grandchildren. Cody is also survived by his parents Bud and LaRee (George) Howard of Rexburg, Idaho, siblings Vickie Kellogg of Phoenix, Arizona, Bryant Kim Howard of Pennsylvania, Meloni Gay Archibald of Ashton, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held November 22 at 11:00 am at the Rexburg East Stake Center, 387 S. 4th E. in Rexburg, Idaho. The family will receive friends November 21 from 5:30-7:30p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, Idaho and November 22 from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services. Interment will be in the Burton Cemetery.
