Cody J. Simmons

Cody Jaques Simmons, 17, of Rexburg, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Cody was born July 1, 1993, in Rexburg, a son of Lyle M. and Diane G. Bean Simmons. Cody was currently in his Senior year at Madison High School, was in the Honor Society with a 3.88 GPA, and participated in Seminary activities. He was recently accepted to BYU-Idaho with plans to major in Chemistry. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and actively participated in the Valley View Priest Quorum. Cody was always willing to serve those around him and was great example to his friends and family.

Cody loved to be outdoors; He loved to camp, hike and fish. He also loved to play soccer and was currently taking Karate lessons. Apart from physical activities he had a passion for Rock 'n' Roll music and loved to play his guitar. Cody could frequently be found writing and recording his own music.

He was an all around friendly person and loved to be with his friends and family. You could always find Cody at the latest movie release, closest concert, or just hanging out at a friend's house playing games.

Cody learned the value of hard work at a young age and apart from his full time studies he was currently working two part time jobs in order to save money for college and a LDS mission. Cody is deeply loved by his family members, neighbors and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Lyle and Diane of Rexburg, siblings Curtis (Jennie) Simmons of Sunnyvale, California, Cortney (Gary) Garcia, Jamie (Levi) Mackintosh and Erin Simmons all of Rexburg; and grandparents Melvin and Winona Bean of Sugar City. He was preceded in death by his grandparents William T. and Theola Cook Simmons.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Rexburg LDS East Stake Center, 387 South 4th East. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services.
